Girl allegedly raped in moving car in Delhi, another by cop in

In growing incidents of crime against women, a 25-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in a moving car in south and another by a policeman in  as four separate cases of sexual assault were registered across the country.

In Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old girl was today found hanging from a tree but a senior police officer claimed that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide.

The 25-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men in a moving car in south Delhi following which the police arrested three persons.

The woman had approached the police last night after which an FIR was registered, a senior police official said.

Another girl, 24, accused a police sub-inspector in Hamirpur in UP of raping her inside a police station when she had gone there to secure her husband's release on the night of June nine.

However, DIG (Banda range)  today said no injury was detected in the medical report of the woman and rape was not confirmed. He added that, according to the medical report, the woman was three-and-a-half months pregnant.

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was today arrested in Ahemdabad for allegedly raping and killing a five-year-old girl from his neighbouring locality.

The incident came to light after the father of the girl, living near Sola bridge area in the city, approached the police when his minor daughter went missing at 10 AM yesterday.

While searching for the girl, the police learnt that the victim was last seen with the young boy working as a cleaner with a private bus operator.

Indian scientist develops new technique to thwart cyberattacks

NEW YORK: An IIT-Delhi alumnus has won a USD 20,000 prize for developing a new technique that protects against cyberattacks.

Sanjam Garg, a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has created tools that enable the first secure solution to the problem of making computer programme code 'unintelligible' while preserving its functionality.

This problem, known as software obfuscation, conceals the programme's purpose or its logic in order to prevent tampering, deter reverse engineering, or as a challenge to readers of the source code.

Garg's approach makes it impossible to reverse-engineer the obfuscated software without solving mathematical problems that could take hundreds of years to work out on today's computers.
Garg, a Josef Raviv Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow at IBM TJ Watson Research Center, completed his dissertation at the University of California, Los Angeles, which nominated him.

Garg will receive the Doctoral Dissertation Award and its USD 20,000 prize in San Francisco next month.

In his dissertation 'Candidate Multilinear Maps', Garg described new mathematical tools that serve as key ingredients for transforming a programme into a 'jigsaw puzzle' of encrypted pieces.
Corresponding to each input is a unique set of puzzle pieces that, when assembled, reveal the output of the programme.

Security of the obfuscated programme hinges on the fact that illegitimate combinations of the puzzle pieces do not reveal anything.

Three Delhi policemen were Tuesday sent to police lines for assaulting four people arrested for their alleged involvement in a clash between two groups, police said.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar and constables Mohit Kumar and Paramveer at the R.K. Puram police station in south Delhi would also face a departmental inquiry. "The policemen were punished for badly beating up four people arrested Sunday night during a fight between two groups in Ekta Vihar" in south Delhi, said a police official.
The official told IANS that the policemen would be suspended if found guilty in the departmental inquiry. The victims were identified as Pradeep, Saleem, Noni and Sajan, all in their early 20's. A social worker, Dilip Chauhan, told IANS that the four, who work with a musical band, were innocent.
"That night they were coming from Punjabi Bagh (in west Delhi) when they saw some people fighting in Ekta Vihar. When they tried to bring peace, policemen arrested them instead," said Chauhan.
